Alzheimer's Association Planning Pierce County Walkathon
The Pierce County Walk to End Alzheimer's will be a socially-distanced walk to help raise money for research and treatment.

PIERCE COUNTY — The Alzheimer's Association is planning a walk later this month to raise money to combat disease, although this walk will be a little different from normal years.
Due to the pandemic, organizers say the walk will be socially-distanced— meaning walkers won't even have to leave their own neighborhoods if they don't want to. As long as participants are walking, it doesn't matter if its on a street, a trail, or even a treadmill.
Organizers say money raised by the walk will be used to support those suffering from Alzheimer's and pay for research towards treatment and prevention.

The walk will begin Sunday, September 27 with an opening ceremony broadcast online from the Promise Garden in Tacoma, then walkers can hit the streets (or wherever) at 12:30 p.m.
