West Pierce Firefighters To "Fill The Boot" For MDA

The Fire Fighters from the West Pierce Fire Department Local #1488 will be out in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on Friday, July 13th from 2pm-6pm, and Saturday, July 14th from 12pm through 4pm, with boots in hand. These local fire fighters supporting the MDA will be located at the Lakewood Town Center, ready to collect donations from motorists throughout the day. Not only is this a chance to support a good cause, but also to say "hi" to your local firefighters.

Committed to ending neuromuscular diseases, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is a longtime friend and supporter of the MDA. Fill the Boot drives are the primary means by which the IAFF has raised almost $460 million for the MDA since 1954. Proceeds raised during the street side campaign will help support the MDA services and research programs locally and nationally, including medical clinics staffed with specialists in neuromuscular disease and special summer camps for kids.

This is the 58th year the IAFF members will hit the streets to bring help and hope to the MDA. The MDA would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all commuters who dropped their dollars and change into the boots of fire fighters this Sunday.
