Firefighters Respond To Large Brush Fire Along I-5 In Lakewood
The Washington State Department of Transportation is asking drivers to avoid the area as firefighters attempt to control the blaze.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Firefighters have been called to a large brush fire near the intersection of State Route 512 and I-5 in the Lakewood area early Tuesday afternoon.
The blaze is just the latest in a series of wildfires across Pierce County that have forced evacuations, caused power outages and shut down schools.
Firefighters first reported the brush fire just before 1 p.m.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area entirely if possible, and the northbound off ramps from I-5 to SR 512 have been closed to traffic.
