Lakewood City Council Approves New Firework Restrictions
The changes will further limit the amount of time fireworks can be set off during the 4th of July.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Monday, the Lakewood City Council approved a new ordinance further restricting when fireworks can be set off within city limits.
The council had pitched the restrictions to the populace earlier this year, and say that after receiving nearly 150 public comments on the issue, they were ready to pull the trigger.
Under the recently-approved Ordinance 742, in Lakewood fireworks can only be discharged between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on July 4. Previously, fireworks could be set off on July 3 and 5 as well. Those who had big plans for the 2021 4th of July don't need to panic just yet— the ordinance will not go into effected until 2022, so there is time for one last 3-day show.
