Lakewood Offers Coronavirus Relief Grants To Commercial Landlords
The city is offering up to $5,000 each month per property to commercial landlords who have been impacted by the pandemic.
LAKEWOOD, WA — Commercial landlords in Lakewood who have been struggling because of the pandemic can now apply to receive coronavirus relief grants from the city.
The Lakewood Commercial Landlord Coronavirus Relief Fund Grant offers up to $5,000 per month for each location a landlord manages, for up to six and a half months of assistance. That equals out to a maximum grant of $37,500 for each tenant that a landlord has.
To qualify for a grant, the city says applicants must:

- Be a commercial landlord who has had a commercial space within city limits for at least one year.
- Have at least one commercial tenant whose lease was in place as of March 1, 2020.
- Be in operation with 250 full-time employees or fewer.
- Have lost rent money due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Washington's eviction moratorium.
The funds to pay for the grants come from the State of Washington's Coronavirus Relief Fund for Local Governments. That program provided Lakewood with $895,050 to use between March and November, some of which has been set aside for landlord assistance.
Eligible landlords have until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 2 to submit their application.
