Lakewood Police Announce Blood Drive Honoring Fallen Officers

Officers will also be collecting food to support families in need.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Lakewood Police are hoping the public will step up and give blood, food or money at their upcoming drive to honor fallen officers.

The pop-up blood drive was organized with the support of Bloodworks Northwest, and will take place outside the Lakewood Police Department on November 18th and 19th.

The drive runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 18th and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the 17th, but donations will be taken by appointment only. You can schedule a time to give by visiting the event page on Bloodworks' website or by emailing them at schedule@bloodworksnw.org.

In August, Lakewood Police participated in a blood drive, which they say garnered enough blood to save 245 lives.

As for the food drive, the main collection event will be the 19th from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., also outside the police department. However, if donors can't make it out on the big day there are multiple opportunities to give: police say they will have collection bins set up outside the station from November 16th through the 23rd to try and collect as much food as possible for families in need.
