Mercer Island Resident Charged for Robbery Attempt at Northwest Yeshiva

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office filed charges of Attempted Robbery First Degree today against Mercer Island resident Webster Wood Judd, who is accused of an against an 84-year-old Seattle man on Mercer Island.

Deputy King County Prosecutor Jennifer Miller () and then assaulted and attempted to rob him. According to Mercer Island Police, the victim was waiting inside his car in the Northwest Yeshiva High School parking lot at around 3:30 p.m.to pick up a student there when Judd allegedly "grabbed and pulled" the man from his car. The man allegedly grabbed the victim by the shoulders and reached into his shirt pockets, then dropped the elderly man to the ground, causing a laceration just above his right eye.

"His history shows a propensity towards substance abuse, disregard for law enforcement and repeated pattern of criminal behavior," she said in the court filing. "He presents a danger to the community."

Last night inside City Hall, Mercer Island Police Chief Ed Holmes updated the mayor and councilmembers that he believed Judd was also involved in a number of approximately on First Hill and along .

"We're working to put all the pieces together," he said. "He's an Island resident with a long history of felony crimes, but he is no longer on the street."

According to Miller, Judd has at least nine prior felony convictions dating back to when he was a teenager in 1983 on a minor in possession charge. According to court record keepers, he's been booked 36 times with 31 warrants since 1985.

Mercer Island Police Detective Pete Erickson later confirmed that Judd, 47, was also a suspect in a recent residential burglary case and took the stolen property to an area pawn shop and sold the items for cash. Those cases will also be referred to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.

Judd, according to prosecutors, remains in jail on $500,000 bail. He will be arraigned on April 21 at 8:30 a.m. at the King County Courthouse, courtroom 1201.
