UPDATE: West Mercer Closes Wednesday Due to Power Outage
High winds last night knocked out power to West Mercer Elementary School.
Update, 9:24 a.m., Wednesday:
West Mercer Elementary School will remain closed for the rest of the day due to a power outage resulting from downed power lines from last night's high winds.
The Mercer Island School District has released the follwoing update:

"West Mercer Elementary is closed for the day. There is no power and PSE is unable to predict when it will be restored. Buses will run their routes and will pick up any student who is without a parent and bring them to school. School personnel will stay with the students until they have all been picked up by a parent."

The Mercer Island School District will open 1-hour late after last night, knocking out power.
"At this time we hope to open 1 hour late," reads the emergency alert. "Buses will run normal schedule to pick up students without parents. Then buses will run 1 hour late again if school is open. Please check district website for updates.
