MIHS Hosts Northwest Lacrosse Invitational this Weekend
Issaquah, Bellevue and Skyline all win opening round games; Mercer Island takes to the field 6 p.m. at Islander Stadium.

Kevin Powers scored 5 goals and collected 7 ground balls to lead Issaquah to a 9 – 6 high school lacrosse win over Oregon Episcopal School on the second day of play at the 6th annual Northwest Invitational, Thursday at .
In the first meeting between the two programs, Issaquah jumped out to a 5 – 0 first quarter advantage before adding another in the second to take a 6 – 0 lead into the intermission. Despite being outscored by Oregon Episcopal 6 – 4 in the second half, Issaquah held on for the win. Kole Lindor netted 3 ground balls and goaltender O’Neil Hughes had 5 saves in the nets for the Eagles.
In other Northwest Invitational results on Friday, Bellevue cruised to a 6 – 3 win over Nevada’s Palo Verde, Oregon’s Lincoln downed Centennial of Boise, Idaho 11 – 7, Claremont (BC) 13, Lakeridge (Ore.) 10, New Westminster (BC) 18, Sunset (Ore.) 2, and Skyline dropped Oregon’s Timberline 13 – 12 in overtime.

The tournament continues on Saturday as Centennial faces Claremont (10 a.m. at Islander Middle School), Palo Verde faces Timberline (10 a.m. at Mercer Island High School), Oregon Episcopal takes on New Westminster (12 p.m. at Islander Middle School), Sunset takes on Skyline (12 p.m. at Mercer Island High School), Claremont takes on Bainbridge (2 p.m. at Mercer Island High School), Lakeridge takes on Timberline (4 p.m. at Islander Middle School), Palo Verde takes on New Westminster (6 p.m. at Islander Middle School), and Sunset faces (6 p.m. at Mercer Island High School).
The annual high school tournament features 14 lacrosse squads from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and British Columbia including the state champions from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Nevada.
