New Mercer Island Directory Arrives

The 2011 edition of the Island's phone book was mailed to homes last Friday.

The snazzy new red cover accented with pinwheels aside, the  arriving in the mail this weekend and today is still the same trusted phonebook for the community.

It's 160 pages long this year — the same as last year's blue 2010 edition and a smaller font to the names and numbers inside. About 6,000 phonebooks were mailed on Friday.

The phone books are published by the , a non-profit all-volunteer organization which raises money to help families of infirm children pay for their care at Seattle Children's Hospital.

To raise the money, the Guild creates and mails the phonebooks free to all local households. The directories cost about $4 to produce, so the guild hopes to raise at least that amount per household through donations. Donation envelopes are sent along with each phonebook.

All profits from donations and ad sales go to Seattle Children's Hospital Guild Association to fund uncompensated care of children.
