NYHS Volleyball Takes Winning Record Into Postseason
The 613's celebrated Senior Night and a #2-seed in the Oct. 27 1B Sea-Tac Tournament.
ended its regular season Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over Eastside Prep.
NYHS (4-2, 5-4 overall) easily won the first two games but Eastside threatened to take the match to four games with a 19-16 lead in the third game. The 613's regrouped and came back to regain the momentum from Eastside (1-4, 1-7 overall) and win 25-22. The victory, played in front of a home crowd at the Seattle Hebrew Academy gym in Seattle, assured NYHS a #3-seed at the 1B SeaTac League Tournament Oct. 27 at Mt. Rainier Lutheran in Tacoma.
Before the start of the Varsity match, Coach Drew Artiaga sent off four seniors in their last home game— Dena Phillips, Jennifer Mendoza, Makena Owens and Ilana Greenberg.
"The school spirit was incredible," said Athletic Director Jed Davis. "The crowd got into it early and the enthusiasm and love for this team and school were evident the entire night."
