VIEWFINDER: No Rain, No Rainbows
Thanks to the rain, a rainbow emerged over Mercer Island around 6 pm this evening.

Despite the stormy weather Tuesday, the likelihood of showers along with partial sunshine means the possibility of a well-loved weather phenomenon increases: It's rainbow time!
According to the National Weather Service, you need three main ingredients to get a rainbow:
- You need to be standing with the sun to your back and the rain in front of you.
- The sun needs to be less than 42o above the horizon.
- The sun's rays must be hitting the raindrops to create the rainbow.

Tonight: Showers likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. South southwest wind between 8 and 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 59. South wind between 3 and 6 mph.
Wednesday Night: Areas of fog after 11pm. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 45. Light south southeast wind.
Thursday: Areas of fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 61. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph.
Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. North wind around 7 mph.
Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 60.
