Rotary Club of Redmond recently named two (RHS) students Student of the Month.
Sophia Xu was honored as Senior Student of the Month, while Bailey Jenks received the Junior Student of the Month award for April. Bailey Jenks attended the last meeting, when Club President Steve Bozick presented her with a plaque. Student of the Month is just one of several ways that Redmond Rotary supports vocational development of young people.

Senior Sophia Xu is an extremely gifted and accomplished student, according to the Rotary selection committee. She is president of the RHS math club and has already done summer research in microbiology at Stony Brook University. She is active in tennis and Chinese painting and is planning a career in computational biology. She has the enviable record of being admitted to California Institute of Technology, Stanford and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and now must choose between them.
Junior Bailey Jenks is active as captain of the school dance team that won a national academic achievement award. She is a member of the National Honor Society, enjoys mathematics and science and is interested in stem cell research. According to the committee, she has excellent writing skills, and her dream job is writing for National Geographic magazine. She volunteers at Woodinville Library and participates in annual fund drives to support a children’s hospital.
