This series is free to students in the Lake Washington School District. Class credit is available. The workshops will take place at the Old Fire House Teen Center in Redmond.

To register for the series, please email ofh@redmond.gov or call 425-556-2300. Ask for class #38152.

Ages: 13-19

Teens: Are you looking for opportunities to develop your writing talent? Look no further! The terms “spokenword” and “open mic” suggest reciting poetry or rhythmic verse, but any genre is welcome. Besides filling up notebooks, journals, and blogs with your musings, you could be sharing your work with peers and performing before a live audience.

So, if you’re a songwriter, a comedian, a budding poet, or if you’re into writing fantasy flash fiction, please join us for Competitive Writing Workshops at Old Fire House Teen Center on Tuesdays, 6-8 pm, Oct. 11-Nov. 8.

You will get a chance to perform your work on Open Mic Night, Saturday Nov. 19, 6-8 pm. Special guest MC is Chris Cashman, local radio personality and voice actor (and son of Pat Cashman). More info on Chris Cashman: http://www.chriscashmanonline.com/
