Update: Power Restored to Overlake Area

The outage affected 1,500 customers and was apparently caused by an underground cable failure.

Update, 5 p.m.: Pugest Sound Energy spokeswoman MacKenzie McDowell says PSE crews have determined the Overlake power outage was caused by an underground cable failure.

Approximately half of the 1,500 customers affected by the outage have had their power restored, she said. The remaining 750 are mostly located west of SR 520.

Crews are currently inspecting the cable line under 148th Avenue NE to find the exact location of the failure, McDowell said. As workers clear a particular section of the line, they are able to restore power to those customers.

McDowell said there is currently no time estimate on when power will be restored to all customers

Update, 3 p.m.: PSE says it does not have any new information on the outage. A Redmond Patch Facebook fan reports "several buildings" are without power at .

Update, 2:25 p.m.: Redmond Police dispatch said signals are out at the following intersections:

  • NE 35th St. and 156th Ave. NE
  • NE 24th St. and Bel-Red Road
  • NE 156th Ave. and Bel-Red Road

There have also been reports of a signal outage on 148th Ave. NE, but police have not yet determined the exact location.

Original post: A power outage is currently affecting customers near State Route 520 and the 148th and 156th Avenue NE corridors.

Puget Sound Energy spokeswoman MacKenzie McDowell said crews are currently in the area but have yet to determine the scope or cause of the outage.

“We’re still investigating; we don’t know how many people are affected,” she said.
