The City of Redmond is pleased to announce a new partnership with Centro Cultural Mexicano located in Downtown Redmond. Much of the Centro Cultural Mexicano's activities focus on art classes and camps designed for kids, teens, and adults. A sampling of spring art classes available to the public includes Amate bark and Huichol yarn painting, paper crafts, Oaxacan black pottery, and fabric hanging lanterns. Additional classes designed for school-aged kids for spring and summer break camps include tin art and maraca making, as well as mariachi band camp.
“We are excited to partner with Centro Cultural Mexicano and bring this unique partnership to Redmond residents,” said Mayor John Marchione. “This partnership creates engaging class and camp experiences while further building culture and community in Redmond.”
The City awarded Los Pajaros Studio Gallery, an extension of the Centro Cultural Mexicano, a $3,000 Redmond Art Season grant to be used to support art classes for young children. In addition to these activities, there is a Cinco de Mayo festival planned in the new Downtown Park, supported by the Redmond Tourism Promotion Grant Program.
