Richard Sherman Sentenced On 2021 Redmond Charges
The former Seahawks cornerback will serve no jail time under terms of a plea deal on three counts stemming from his 2021 Redmond arrest.

REDMOND, WA — A King County judge on Monday sentenced former Seahawks superstar Richard Sherman on two misdemeanor charges and a speeding infraction nearly eight months after his arrest outside his in-laws Redmond home.
Sherman was arrested in the early morning hours of July 13 after police said he drove impaired from his Maple Valley home, crashed his SUV in a construction zone on State Route 520, attempted to break into his wife's parents' home and resisted arrest. The former Seahawks cornerback initially faced five misdemeanor charges.
Under the terms of a plea deal, Sherman pleaded guilty to three offenses:

According to sentencing documents shared Monday, Sherman will be under court-monitored supervision for 24 months and is ordered to pay a combined $1,325 in fines. Prosecutors said additional restitution to Sherman's father-in-law and the Washington State Department of Transportation would be determined.
The judge also handed down a suspended 90-day jail sentence, with credit for two days served, which can be triggered if he violates the conditions of the agreement during his probation. Otherwise, Sherman will not serve jail time.

Some of the stipulations include having no criminal violations, no alcohol or drug-related infractions, and attending a DUI victim's panel within two months. Prosecutors said the judge did not require an ignition interlock device, but Sherman will be required to follow state licensing requirements.
Shortly after his July arrest, Sherman said he was "deeply remorseful" and "behaved in a manner I am not proud of," vowing to seek support for his mental and emotional health. According to KING 5, Sherman told the sentencing judge that he was thankful for the conversations he has had with friends and family since the incident.
A spokesman for the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said Sherman's case and sentencing were consistent with how similar cases are handled and that he received no special treatment. He has no prior criminal history.
Sherman played with the Seattle Seahawks from 2011 through 2017 and was a bedrock of the "Legion of Boom." After three seasons in San Francisco, he signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 and played in five games before suffering an Achilles injury in January.
