Strike Update: Waste Management Says It Will Collect Redmond Garbage Today

The company has also announced it plans to hire permanent drivers to replace striking workers.

Redmond residents who normally have their garbage collected by Waste Management on Wednesdays can expect trash pick-up today, the company announced in a news release Tuesday evening.

All regularly scheduled commercial business garbage routes will also be serviced on Wednesday, according to the news release. No recycling or yard waste will be collected.

Waste Management held a news conference on Tuesday where company officials said they plan to begin hiring permanent recycle truck drivers to replace those on strike. As The Seattle Times reported, Waste Management is facing a $1.25-million-a-day fine from the City of Seattle if pick-up does not take place today.
