Temperatures Expected to Hit Mid-90s This Week—How Will You Keep Cool?

Growing up in Western Washington, my family had just one strategy for keeping cool during our all-too-short summers: get outside, find the nearest body of water, and jump in.
Recently, though, I've discovered not everyone shares my enthusiasm for basking in the sun. (I cynically tell myself they're not from here and therefore don't "get it.") Some people are more comfortable finding a cool spot in the shade—or, better yet, in an air-conditioned building.
With temperatures expected to hit the mid-90s in Redmond this week, many of us will be plotting our escapes from the heat. The forecast calls for highs of 79 degrees on Tuesday, 84 on Wednesday, 93 on Thursday, and 94 on Friday.
