Two Seattle Eateries Expanding To Redmond

REDMOND, WA — One of Seattle's most popular bagel shops will make the jump across Lake Washington this winter, along with one of Ethan Stowell's award-winning restaurants. Rubinstein Bagels and Tavolàta are both scheduled to open up shop in downtown Redmond inside the "Porch + Park" development, which is slated for completion in December.

The six-story, 150,000 square foot mixed-use building, developed by MainStreet Property Group, will feature 106 apartments and a sprawling rooftop deck overlooking Downtown Park.

Rubinstein Bagels got started in Seattle in 2019 before opening up its South Lake Union location in late 2020 and later expanding to Capitol Hill. The restaurant's founder, Sammamish resident Andrew Rubinstein, told The Seattle Times back in 2019 that he hoped to one day expand to the Eastside, and that dream is on track to become a reality by winter.

Rubinstein has quickly become one of Seattle's top-rated bagel outposts and last year was named one of the 'Best Bagels in America' by Food & Wine Magazine. The company makes its bagels using flour from Eastern Washington and bakes them fresh every day.

The Redmond location will open daily from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. offering up a slate of fresh bagels, schmears, breakfast sandwiches and coffee with indoor and outdoor seating, along with delivery. Not long after opening, Rubinstein hopes to add a taproom space.

"The Redmond area is so vivacious, and we've experienced a long-standing craving from folks on the Eastside to experience our bagels locally," Rubinstein said. "We're so excited to not only extend our reach to the Redmond community — but also to increase our delivery capacity to Rubinstein fans across the Eastside."

Tavolàta, with three locations in Seattle and one in Spokane, will be Rubinstein's neighbor at Porch + Park, serving up handcrafted rigatoni, tonnarelli, spaghetti, linguine and other pasta dishes along with a roster of other house favorites. The 4,500 square foot space will feature dark wood and dim lighting, and an outdoor patio will look out onto the park.

"We've been looking for the right location to grow our presence on the Eastside, and Porch + Park is the perfect building and location for this expansion," Stowell said. "We always love working with the MainStreet team and believe locating at the end of the park is spectacular — and we can't think of a better community to join than the growing hub like Downtown Redmond."
