If Bill Gates was concerned about not being the world's richest man for the past half-dozen years or so, he can now breathe a sigh of relief, according to Geekwire.
As of the afternoon of May 16, his fortune climbed to $72.7 billion, 600 million above the number two guy, Carlos Slim, Geekwire said. Bloomberg also recently reported that Gates's fortune has grown by $10 billion just this year.
Microsoft stock also hit a five-year high Thursday, closing at $34.08.
