5 Teens Escape From Echo Glen Juvenile Detention: KCSO

The sheriff's office is searching for a Ford Fusion after five teens left the Echo Glen Children's Center in Snoqualmie.

SNOQUALMIE, WA β€” Five teens escaped from a juvenile detention facility in Snoqualmie on Wednesday morning and are believed to have fled the area in a stolen vehicle, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said reports of "multiple escapees" came in from the Echo Glen Children's Center, a 65-acre youth correctional facility located in the wetlands west of Snoqualmie Valley Hospital. In an update shared early in the afternoon, officials said five teen boys, ages 14 to 17, escaped the facility shortly before 8 a.m. The teens' previous offenses ranged from possession of stolen property to first-degree murder, officials said.

Sergeant Tim Meyer, a sheriff's office spokesman, told Patch that several staffers suffered minor injuries during the escape and the boys successfully stole a state vehicle from the facility's motor pool. The sheriff's office said it was searching for a gray 2018 Ford Fusion with a license plate number 27545E.
