
CrossPath Counseling & Consultation announced earlier this month that Wayne Dykstra, a psychotherapist, has joined its SammamishΒ staff. Dyskstra specializes inΒ counseling young people and families, especially when itΒ comes to family conflict, depression, substance abuse and anxiety, the company said.
He will be availableΒ from Monday through Saturday by appointment at the CrossPath office in Sammamish Commons Park.Β Β
Dykstra holds a master's degree in psychology from Seattle University. He is a certified Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist.

βWayneβs experience and qualifications offer a fresh perspective to both the CrossPath staff and the needs of the Sammamish community,β Belinda Lafferty, CrossPath Clinical Director, said in a statement announcing the news.
βWayneβs experience is extensive with parents and all youth, but having a male counselor is an especially important option for some boys and adolescent males.Β Often within this demographic, boys look to their counselor to be a role model they can identify with and simply are more comfortable with a man."

CrossPath helps families and young people on the Sammamish PlateauΒ with behavior problems, communicationΒ issues, blended families and conflict resolution. CrossPath opened in May 2010, in partnership with the city of Sammamish.
