Loved Ones Remember Donald Barker (1947-2011): Husband, Father, Friend

Loved ones gathered at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday to pay their respects to Donald Barker, who passed away on April 9 at his Sammamish home.

He was born on Feb. 15, 1947, according to an onlineΒ obituaryΒ posted on the Flintofts Funeral Home & Crematory. A graduate of the University of Washington, he served in the U.S. Navy during the 1960s and 1970s.

He worked inΒ building and shopping centerΒ management and commercial property development. He most recently worked at Powell Development Co.Β He and his wife, Anne, loved taking vacations to Hawaii and Hood Canal.

In early April, they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

BarkerΒ also enjoyed fishing, catching crab and golfing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Mary, Queen of Peace.

In his funeral notice, his family and friends expressed how deeply they will miss him. But they wrote: "We are all certain, though, that with his life’s labors now completed, Don is contemplated the highest and best use of the remainder of God’s Kingdom."

The family asks that remembrances be sentΒ to the 2011 American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Eastlake High School. Those remembrances can be sent to Kaylee Hansen, 2120 First Ave. N. in Seattle, 98109.
