Sammamish Seeks Reserve Police Officers

The city of Sammamish is seeking five volunteer reserve Police Officers, and will hold an informational meeting Monday, Jan. 30 at .

Salary Information: This is a volunteer position.

A Reserve Police Officer is a citizen volunteer who serves theΒ community through a devotion of valuable time and effort towards a common goal. Reserve PoliceΒ Officers receive normal witness fee compensation for court appearances and may receive some offduty overtime assignments approved by the King County Sheriff’s Office.Β

Reserves are required to serve a minimum of 32 hours per month during the first year training period, and then 20 hours perΒ month thereafter.

Preferred Qualification: City of Sammamish resident

Desired Qualifications:Β College level course work in written and oral communication, Police Science or a related field.Previous experience in a law enforcement or related field (reserve officer, police explorer,Β corrections officer, store detective, etc.) Knowledge and/or use of personal computers and bilingualΒ abilities.

Current Hiring Status:Β Vacancies are filled by the City of Sammamish after initial testing, oral board, a backgroundΒ investigation, medical and psychological evaluations and a polygraph exam.

About the Department:Β The city of Sammamish is a contract partner of the King County Sheriff’s Office. SammamishΒ Officers are King County Deputies and have jurisdiction throughout King County. The city is staffedΒ with 22 commissioned officers including 1 police chief, 3 sergeants, 3 detectives, 2 school resourceΒ officers and 13 patrol officers. Β
