At Seattle Bike Swap: Gear, Good Deals and Childhood Memories - on Two Wheels, of Course
Hundreds showed up Sunday at the Seattle Center to get good deals at the Cascade Bicycle Club's Bike Swap.
Hundreds of bicycle enthusiasts from the Seattle regionΒ descended on the Seattle Center Sunday to search for nearly almost all things relating toΒ two wheels - and especially at great deals.
The Cascade Bicycle ClubΒ held its annual Seattle Bike Swap, which attracted vendors who brought everything from a Swiss Army bike with an attached cot to old-school Schwinns.
Seattle-area bike gear lovers had found a second home. There were assortedΒ cranksets, boxes of hubs, guitar-shaped pedals,Β checkered rims, triathalon-style bicycles andΒ folding commuter bikes.Β

People walked the aisles. Some sorted through boxes of gear. Vendors sat in chairs and talked with visitors about parts for sale - or just riding the road. Of course, people were pumping tires.Β
VisitorsΒ inspected beach cruisers and single-speed track bikes. There were brand namesΒ that brought back memories of theΒ past: Eddy Mercx, Klein, Reynolds 531, Columbus andΒ Campagnolo.

One vendor talked about having so much bike gear thatΒ he had to showΒ up at the SeattleΒ Bike SwapΒ to sell soΒ he could have room in hisΒ apartment. AnotherΒ vendor had what apparently wasΒ a bike from 1899 - and was asking $4,000 for it.

Shoreline resident Greg Johnson, who runs Chauncey's Used Bikes,Β explained - partially in jest -Β how his garage is larger than his house. "This is a drug habit," he joked, as he stood in front of numerousΒ two wheelers.Β "If you see my yard, you would understand."
At his house,Β he said, he has 300 bikes.
