Basketball With a Point: Harlem Globetrotters Visit Jordan McCabe With Message of School and Sports

The 12-year-old Seattle area basketball phenomenon traded tips and tricks with Globetrotter Rocket Rivers at the youth's Issaquah middle school, which is near Sammamish.

Two Harlem Globetrotters visited the Seattle area Monday to perform tricks with youth basketball phenomenon Jordan McCabe and send a message to young people: That dedication and school payΒ off.

Globetrotter Rocket Rivers and Fred "Curly" Neal, a legend with the team knownΒ for awe-inspiring basketball shows, appearedΒ with McCabe, 12, at Beaver Lake Middle School, where the youth attends classes.

In threeΒ assemblies in front of students at the Issaquah school, Rivers and McCabe amazedΒ the students with low dribbling, spinning and juggling. The students broke out into applause, laughter and hoots - several times.

Jordan, an Issaquah resident, has gained national notoriety because of his basketball skills, which he said he hasΒ honed by spending two to three hours each dayΒ in the gym.

As Rivers andΒ McCabe showed their skills, Neal held a microphoneΒ and gaveΒ commentary at the school, which is near Sammamish. He remindedΒ students about the importanceΒ of thanking their teachers, readingΒ and trying their best with academics.

McCabe is a straight "A" student. Recently, heΒ was onΒ "TheΒ Ellen DeGeneresΒ Show."Β KOMO News also has featured him.
