Bicyclists From Sammamish and Seattle Area Gear Up for Bike to Work Day on Friday
There will be about 40 commuter stations around the Seattle area for riders to get snacks, food and repair help.

Sammamish bicyclists will join others from throughout the Seattle area on Friday as they put pedal power into action toΒ mark Bike to Work Day.
The Cascade Bicycle Club is helping to support the event and there willΒ be commuterΒ stations in Redmond and Issaquah. In total, there will be about 40 commuter stations in the Seattle area.

For Sammamish riders going to or through Redmond, there will be two commuter stations from 6 to 9 a.m. on Friday. One will beΒ on the between Northeast 116th and 124th streets and one on the 520 bike trail near Northeast 51st Street.
The Greater Redmond Transportation Management AssociationΒ is operating these two stations.

For Plateau or Lake Sammamish riders heading south toΒ or through Issaquah, there will be twoΒ commuter stations.
One, sponsored by the city of Issaquah,Β will be at State Route 900 and Northwest Sammamish Road. Representatives from Pacific Bicycle will be available to help.
The other will beΒ at Siemens, located atΒ East Lake Sammamish Parkway SoutheastΒ and Southeast 51st Street. This one will be open from 6 to 9 a.m. There will be a pump, tools, drinks and snacks for riders.
ForΒ bicycleΒ enthusiastsΒ who mightΒ be in Seattle on Friday evening, thereΒ will be a Bike to Work Day Afterparty from 4 to 7 p.m.Β atΒ 22nd Street NorthwestΒ and Ballard Avenue, according to the Cascade Bicycle Club's website. The afterpartyΒ will beΒ held in conjunction with the Ballard Street Party.
Sammamish bicyclist Giles Varner was riding along East Lake Sammamish Parkway on Thursday evening on hisΒ recumbent-style bicycle. He said he enjoys pedaling to work in Redmond - especially when the weather is good.
For Bike to Work Day, he hopes that everyone, includingΒ motorists, will beΒ careful so no one gets hurt.Β
