As you prepare to spring forward with daylight saving time at 2 a.m. Mar. 13, 2022, remember to change the battery in your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector.

Change Your Clock, Change Your BatteryΒ is a national fire-safety program that urges Americans to change smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries when clocks are changed for daylight saving time.Β 

Nationwide, 71 percent of smoke alarms that failed to operate had missing, disconnected or dead batteries, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
