Happy 22nd Birthday, Sammamish! With all that our community has to offer, it’s easy to forget, at times, that we are still a relatively new city. The first settlers arrived in the area in the late 19th century and the plateau remained a mostly rural area until suburban homes, shopping centers, and schools were built in the 1970s and 1980s. A movement to become a city was met with voter approval in 1998 and Sammamish was officially incorporated on August 31, 1999. It’s a great day to celebrate the birthday of our beautiful city!
