For any snow event, the City’s number one priority is to keep our designated priority snow and ice routes in good driving condition. Our City Public Works and Parks crews are working 24-hours a day for the duration of this winter storm, and are prioritizing snow and ice removal based on priority routes. As we are able to, we have begun to service neighborhood roads. Given the challenges we face with staff shortages, statewide material delays, and unforeseen equipment issues, it may be a while before residential streets are serviced. The rain and snow mix that we received yesterday and that is in the forecast means that our storm response will continue for the next few days, with our crews continuing to service priority routes first.

Please continue to visit our Weather Event News for the latest updates. You can also find the City's Snow & Ice Routes map here. In the event of an emergency, please call 911.

City Parks:

The City’s Snow and Ice Policies for Parks have been to keep them closed while the entire Parks maintenance crews are re-directed to plowing streets during a snow event. Once the event has stopped and roads are safe, Parks and Facilities are opened up after the driveways and parking lots are cleared and they are inspected for safety.

Garbage and Recycling:

Due to hazardous road conditions, Republic Services was not able to collect residential garbage, recycling, and yard waste last week. Service for residential customers has been impacted this week as well. Customers may place double your regular material out due to missed collection last week at no charge.Β  If your garbage is not collected this week, you can place triple your regular material next week at no charge.

In the meantime, the City and Republic Services haveΒ set upΒ two drop-off locations in Sammamish for garbage and recycling for residential customers that have missed collection last week and this week. Here are the details:

    • Wednesday, January 5 from 9:30 am – 1 pm (*Please note that ESP is also utilized as a school drop-off location for Margaret Mead students and we are working around the school bell times. Should there be any school delays or closures, hours at this location may be affected.)
  • Beaver Lake ParkΒ (Ballfields / west entrance off 244th) Garbage & Recycling Drop-off Hours
    • Wednesday, January 5Β from 9 am – 3 pm

We will continue to assess the weather and road conditions, and additional drop-off locations for garbage and recycling as needed. Please stay tuned for updates tomorrow, Wednesday!

We greatly appreciate your continued support and understanding throughout this storm!
