A statement from the City Manager to the Community:

β€œOn October 1, 2021, the City of Sammamish was served with a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court alleging that the City violated plaintiffs’ right to freedom of speech protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; in particular, plaintiffs allege that the City of Sammamish improperly removed comments that plaintiffs posted on the City’s Facebook page.Β  These allegations are false and the City looks forward to appearing before the U.S. District Court to demonstrate the City’s continued compliance with the right citizens, and residents, have under the First Amendment to comment on, and criticize, their government and their elected officials.Β In addition, the City fully supports its Communications staff and recognizes the excellent work they do keeping Sammamish residents apprised of City events and issues. We will provide periodic updates to this post which will include links to pleadings the City files in U.S. District Court.”
