Eastside Fire & Rescue Is Recruiting New Firefighters

Eastside Fire & Rescue is beginning the long process of hiring new entry-level firefighters, and the testing period begins next month.

SAMMAMISH, WA β€” Eastside Fire & Rescue is gearing up to recruit new firefighters, and the five-month process kicks off in September. The agency serves several Eastside communities, including Issaquah, Sammamish, North Bend and Carnation, and will soon extend service to Woodinville. Eastside Fire & Rescue employs 135 full-time members, and officials estimate crews respond to 10,000 calls each year.

The application window is open for entry-level positions, with testing set to begin on Sept. 1. Applicants who score at least 80 percent on the test can expect to move forward to the multi-part interview process by late October, officials said.

Ultimately, the agency plans to hire several new recruits by Feb. 1, 2022.

The annual salary for new recruits is $70,000 and includes a robust package of other benefits.
