Ernie Smith, Former Issaquah Councilman, Dies At 68

Smith died May 24 in Issaquah and served on the City Council in the 1980s.

ISSAQUAH, WA - Former Issaquah City Council member Ernie Smith died at home on May 24 at age 68. Smith was born in Kelso in 1949, and, after graduating from the University of Puget Sound, moved to Issaquah in the 1970s.

He moved to Issaquah to work at Puget Sound Bank. He was active with the Issaquah Kiwanis, and served on the City Council in the 1980s. His time on the council included a stint as Council President.

"Throughout his life, Smith was an avid outdoorsman and family man. He had a sense of humor nobody could resist, and had a wide and wonderful circle of friends," the city of Issaquah wrote in a remembrance of Smith.

Smith is survived by his wife, Robin Lee-Smith; daughter, Andrea Lee Jordan; son, Tyler Lee Smith; sister, Diana Messinger; brother, Robb Smith; sister-in-law, Anne Lee; brother-in-law, Eric Lee; mother-in-law, Pauline Lee; and many nieces and nephews.
