Updated: Good To Go Passes for SR 520 Tolls to be Sold Wednesday at Sammamish City Hall

Commuters can purchase passes at any Safeway store and from mobile locations in Bellevue and other Eastside cities this week.

Sammamish commutersΒ who useΒ State Route 520 now can purchase Good To Go passes for the all-electronic tolling system scheduled to start in the spring.

State transportation officials will be selling passes Wednesday from 11 am to 5 pmΒ at .

The state expects to enact by spring a peak-hour toll of $3.50 each way of SR 520, which will help pay for repairs that include the replacement of the bridge span. No tollbooths will be installed. Instead, commuters will pay their tolls through a Good To Go account, or through the mail, which will carry a surcharge.

The state Department of Transportation also announced storefronts in Bellevue and Seattle where commuters can purchase the transponders, which can be installed in cars and start their accounts.

Commuters who sign up before April 15 can get $10 in free tolls, according to the Washington state Department of Transportation.

The Washington state Transportation Commission has recommended a toll rate schedule that includes a peak-hour base toll of $3.50 each way, but because of voter-approved Initiative 1053, .

Commuters will be able to purchase the transponders at any local Safeway store and a customer service center in Bellevue at 13107 NE 20th St., Suites 3 & 4.

The Safeway stores will start carrying the passes Feb. 18.

The customer service center will be open from Monday - Friday 7 am to 7 pm. and Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 5 pm.
