Issaquah Police Blotter: Police Search for Vehicle Involved in Fatal Renton Hit & Run

The following information is from reports from the Issaquah Police Department for April 27-May 3. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

April 27

Residential burglary: A resident of the 23400 block of SE Black Nugget Road reported that someone had forced entry through a door and stolen a laptop computer worth about $650.

Drug problem: Police responded to the 1200 block of 10th Ave. NE and found two used syringes and a metal spoon with burn marks on the top and bottom.

April 28

Vehicle theft: a resident of the 23400 block of SE Black Nugget Rd reported the theft of a 2007 Subaru from the home.

April 29

Malicious Mischief: a car window was broken around the 600 Block of Ave NE and E Sunset Way, causing damage of around $250, but nothing was stolen.

Vehicle prowl: Police responded to a report of a vvehicle prowl near the 1800 block of 10th Ave NW. Clothing items worth about $350 were stolen from a trunk.

Theft: A report was made of $4,000 in cash being stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 100 block of NE Creek Way.

April 30

Harrassment: Two people got into an argument on the 400 block of NW Gilman Blvd. after one opened a car door, dinging the other car. Police responded and noted no damage, and advised the two to leave the area.

May 1

Search for vehicle involved in Renton Hit & Run: Issaquah Police searched the area around 1100 Hoquium Ave. NE at Talus for a white Subaru that may have been involved in a hit-and-run accident in Renton, but did not locate the vehicle. The pedestrian who was struck in Renton has since died of his injuries.

Malicious mischief: A man called police after hearing breaking glass outside the Central on the 100 block of E Sunset Way. He looked out the window and saw a man on the sidewalk, and a broken hanging light shade.

Fraud: An Issaquah man reported to police that his 16-year-old son had forged six checks for a total of about $950. The man and his wife haven’t decided whether to press charges.

May 2

Medication theft: A caregiver reported that medication destined for a home near the 4200 Block of 192nd Lane SE may have been stolen or was never delivered. The value of the medicine was $980.

Theft: A flat of flowers worth $200 was stolen from a business on the 100 block of Front Street S.

The following day, three small flower pots worth a total of about $15 were stolen from the 300 block of Front Street North.

May 3

Car prowl: A car window was damaged and a woman’s purse gone through near the 2100 block of Shy Bear Way NW.

Car prowl: A cell phone was stolen from an unlocked 2006 Ford Escape around 11 a.m. on the 1000 block of 10th Ave NE.

Car prowl: At around 11:20 a.m. police took a report of a car prowl at the 500 block of Mountain View Lane NW. The victim’s laptop and jacket, worth about $2,100, were stolen from a 2009 VW Jetta.

Transient camp: Police located a transient camp on Issaquah High School property, and ordered the transients to leave the area.

Vehicle hits tree: Around 4:45 p.m., a car struck a tree at Northwest Gilman Road and Front Street North; there were no injuries and the car was towed.

Shoplifting: Issaquah Police arrested Michael Markum, a 57-year-old Bellevue resident, for shoplifting a $140 computer hard drive from Costco.
