Issaquah Prepares For Potential Flooding

ISSAQUAH, WA — As heavy rain continues and snowmelt rapidly increases, Issaquah is preparing for potential flooding along Issaquah Creek. According to the National Weather Service, the creek was expected to reach the moderate flood stage by late Thursday evening, before starting to crest mid-Friday morning.

City officials shared a list of resources and recommended preparations, including free sandbags available for pickup at the Issaquah Community Center until 8 p.m. Thursday. Residents can also request larger deliveries and report stormwater issues by contacting the city at 425-837-3470 during business hours.

• Updating flood plans for your family or business, which should include emergency phone numbers, the safest route to higher ground and a process for how your neighbors will notify each other.

Residents can track the latest alerts from the city on its social media pages and find live river conditions and updated forecasts via NOAA. Forecasters with the National Weather Service expected areas around North Bend would see another 3 to 4 inches of rain by late Friday afternoon. A flood watch will remain in place across Western Washington until Saturday afternoon.
