Jay Inslee proclaimed January as School Board Recognition month in the state of Washington, in honor of school board directors throughout the stateβs 295 school districts.

βSchool directors play a crucial role in promoting student learning and achievement by creating a vision, establishing policies and budgets, and setting clear standards of accountability for all involved,β Inslee said in the proclamation, and noted that school directors are βoutstanding volunteers and champions for public education.β
