ISSAQUAH, WA β€” Detectives in Lynnwood arrested a young woman from Issaquah this month suspected in a retail theft scheme that quickly netted more than $100,000, police announced Friday.

In a news release, the Lynnwood Police Department said the 18-year-old, a former Nordstrom employee, used cash registers to complete fraudulent returns at stores in Lynnwood, Seattle, Tukwila and Scottsdale, Arizona. In just one month, police estimated $165,000 was stolen and transferred into various bank accounts.

"This is a large amount of money," said Troy Hammersmith, a property crimes detective. "One of the highest I have encountered at Lynnwood."
