Local Artists On Display At Sammamish 'Layers' Exhibit

From the City of Sammamish: The Sammamish Arts Commission is pleased to present Layers, an exhibit on display in Sammamish City Hall’s Commons Gallery featuring seven regional artists; Liz Ruest, Cheryll Leo-Gwin, Claire Putney, Iskra Johnson, Phil Stoiber, Aaliyah Gupta and Amanda Knowles.

The Layers exhibit is currently on view and will be available to the public until July 20, 2018. The community is invited to a reception for the artists in the Commons Gallery on Thursday, May 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Each of the artists employ layers in different media to achieve depth, texture, viewpoints and contexts. The combination of media from different sources has created new works that are not easily defined. Twenty-five works are currently on display throughout the gallery space.

“We are pleased to show the work of these talented artists who are exploring new ways to create depth, vantage points and insight into their work. The use of technology finds its way into traditional media and new media forms immerge,” states Commissioner and curator Barbara Jirsa. “I am grateful to Liz Ruest whose work was the gateway into this exhibit.”

The Sammamish Arts Commission offers a year-round series of exhibitions in the City Hall Commons Gallery with a primary focus on regional artists.
