Man Loves Kirkland Light Beer, So He Made A Hilarious Ad For It
"I am an idiot and I made a stupid video," Randy Colpek says of his homemade TV ads for Costco's Kirkland Light brand beer.
ISSAQUAH, WA - "Kirkland Light: it's 11 a.m. somewhere!" Randy Colpek yells after bursting through a wall made of Kirkland Light beer boxes.
That's just one scene from a series of TV Commercials the Bear Creek, Calif., man made for Costco's seltzer-adjacent brew. Colpek drinks 18 cans of Kirkland Light per day, and loves it so much he was moved to make advertisements for it - ones that Issaquah-based Costco would not sign off on.
The spots may not ever air during the Super Bowl, but Colpek's short odes to Kirkland Light are burning up the internet. Over 200,000 people have viewed the original ad and a companion video of outtakes on YouTube. And Colpek has become a celebrity on Reddit.

Aside from drinking Kirkland Light and making satirical ads, Colpek, makes intricate birdhouses. Seriously -he sells them on the crafts website Etsy.
In reality, Costco doesn't advertise on television, or anywhere really. Costco is famous for its near-zero advertising budget, except for some direct mail and coupon flyers. Perhaps the company knows that its Kirkland-brand products and cavernous warehouse stores are enough to entice customers.
