NORTH BEND, WA β€” A police officer shot and killed a man at North Bend's Torguson Park Tuesday night, following some kind of altercation, according to officials.

King County's Independent Force Investigation Team (IFIT) will lead a probe into the shooting and the officer who shot the man will remain on paid leave until it concludes. Updates on the case will come from the designated IFIT spokesperson, Meeghan Black, the public information officer for the Bellevue Police Department.

In a news release published Wednesday morning, Black said an officer working for the Snoqualmie/North Bend Police Department approached a group inside the park and was "involved in an altercation" with a man who "reportedly reached for the officer's weapon."
