One Week Left to Apply for Business Award From State
The Secretary of State wants to honor companies that help cities or a region.

Do you know an outstanding businessΒ in SammamishΒ that contributes to the community? Or do you live in Sammamish, work elsewhere in the Seattle area and know of a company that helps a community?
The state wants to know about it.
The Secretary of Stateβs Office is accepting nominations for its Corporations for Communities 2011 award. TheΒ deadline to submit a nomination is Aug. 31.

The program started in 2009 by Secretary of State Sam Reed to βrecognize exceptional Washington businesses that demonstrate a commitment to giving in order to improve local or regional social and environmental conditions,β the office said in a statement.
"This is an opportunity to encourage standout corporations that are choosing to make their community a priority,β Reed said. βParticularly in these tough economic times, itβs important to cheer on businesses that are going above and beyond to make a difference in Washington.β

Each year, Reed selects one large and one small to receive a National Association of Secretaries of State Medallion, the highest civics honor awarded by the state
Nomination forms are available on the Secretary of Stateβs website. Winners will be announced in September.
Last fall, and Dissmoreβs Foods in Pullman were picked as winners.
