Safety Alert: Child Approached by Stranger on Klahanie Boulevard
Police and schools are asking parents to review stranger safety with children and to call the King County Sheriff's Office if you have any information about the incident.

At about 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 9, a student was walking on Klahanie Blvd. near 256th when an SUV approached him. The man inside asked the student through the passenger window if he wanted a ride. When the student refused, the man said "Get in the car!" and continued to follow him as he walked away.
The student reported that the car sped ahead of him and when he turned the corner onto SE 37th Way, the vehicle was parked on the side of the street facing him and the man was out of the car. The student walked into a condo complex, waited until the man left in the car, and walked home.
The student describes the car as a medium blue SUV. He describes the man inside as 60-70 years old with white hair, balding in front. If you have any information about this incident, call the King County Sheriff's office at (206) 296-4155.

- Never talk to a stranger
- Never let a stranger get too close, whether the stranger is in a car or walking
- Never tell a stranger any personal information, such as name, age, or address
- Try to walk in pairs with a friend or an adult
- Stick to safe, well-lit paths when walking
- Do not obstruct hearing with iPods or portable music players when walking or waiting outside
- If a stranger tries to grab you, yell as loudly as you can and run away
- Immediately alert an adult if you are approached by a suspicious person
