Sammamish City Council Agenda: Council to Interview Board and Commission Candidates
At its study session Tuesday, Jan. 10, the council will hold public interviews with applicants for positions on four advisory commissions and the Beaver Lake Management District Board.

At its study session Tuesday, Jan. 10, the will interview applicants for openings on its advisory commissions and board. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 - 8 p.m.
The council also will hear a presentation on the for the 8thΒ Street Park recently . At its meeting last week, the Parks & Recreation Commission discussed possibilities for uses and access to the current and future parkland, and the Parks & Recreation Department will begin a series of public meetings on the master planning process next week.
Also during the study session, city Attorney Bruce Disend will give a presentation to the council on the Initiative and Referendum process in Washington State.Β

The city is looking to fill seven openings on the Arts Commission, four openings on the Parks & Recreation Commission, two openings on the Planning Commission, and five positions on the Beaver Lake Management District Board.
Recruitment for applicants began in September and closed Jan. 6.

Each applicant has been instructed to start the interview by telling a little about themselves and why they would like to be on the commission. At that time councilmembers will have the option of asking questions. Each interview should last no longer than five minutes.
At its Jan. 17 meeting, the city council will hold an Executive Session to discuss the qualifications of the candidates, and vote during the open public meeting.
All commission terms begin Feb. 1.
Following are the open positions and the names of the applicants. Those applicants with an asterisk* by their names are currently members of their respective commissions or board.
2012 Arts Commission Applicants
The Arts Commission recently eliminated the Alternate Positions, increased the number of members to nine and staggered the terms so they would not be losing so many members at once.
