Sammamish City Hall Reopens To Public In April

With case counts down considerably and more restrictions relaxing, officials plan to reopen Sammamish City Hall next month.

SAMMAMISH, WA β€” After new COVID-19 surges delayed Sammamish's plans to reopen City Hall, officials this month said they are on track to welcome the public back in early April. The city's initial timeline for reopening the facility early this year was scuttled by the emergence of the omicron variant, which brought case counts and hospitalizations to record highs across the region.

"City Hall was previously scheduled to begin reopening in mid-January until the Omicron COVID Variant swept through our community," city officials wrote last week. "We postponed the reopening process at that time to wait for guidance from King County Public Health to determine when it is safe to proceed while maintaining the safety of our staff and community. The City received an update from King County Public Health earlier this week and based on their new numbers and guidance, we feel it is safe to move forward with the City's reopening plan beginning on Monday, April 4."

City Hall's reopening comes amid a wave of pandemic-related changes across the region, including the recent removal of vaccine verification requirements in King County and the upcoming end to Washington's statewide indoor mask mandate. Several of the region's top employers, including Microsoft and Google, have also initiated plans to bring more employees back to the office.
