Sammamish Continues Street Clearing Efforts, Reopens Warming Shelter

With main arterials clear, the city of Sammamish road crews are moving to side roads and neighborhood streets. The city warned in a news release this morning, Jan. 20, that many of those roads are still quite treacherous. Drivers are advised to proceed with extreme caution.

East Lake Sammamish Parkway, which was closed by downed power lines yesterday just north of 212th Way Southeast, was cleared up overnight with the help of Puget Sound Energy crews. Snake Hill Road, however, is still closed due to low-hanging power lines.

Although power has been restored in many areas, it's possible that some neighborhoods will lose power again. Tree branches are continuing to fall under the weight of the ice, and breezy weather later today may bring down some more.

CITY HALL opened AT 7 a.m. as a warming shelter for those still without power. Light refreshments will be available, along with places to charge your cell phone and do other things that require power.
