Sammamish-Issaquah Families: Crowdsourcing Favorite Summer Camps
Help us identify the best, the cheapest, or just overall great summer camps (hopefully that still have some space).

I'm a procrastinator. Worse yet, I'm a procrastinator with a kid, and co-parenting means it's often pretty late in the sign-up season when I find out what weeks I need to plan summer activities for an active boy.
Something tells me I'm not alone, and I know there are scads of great camps out there suitable for all ages, and that don't cost an arm and a leg. Usually I hear about them from other parents, so I'm inviting you all to share some info about the camps and activities your children like the best, and a link to their website if you know it, in the comments below so we can all share the summer camp love.
I'll get us started with a few that I have personal experience with or I know have some space available for any fellow procrastinators:

- has camps for 3- to 11-year-olds in late June and July, and I heard from them last week that they still have space available. Camps--salmon and ecology themed, of course--for school-age kids run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the younger set goes until 12:30 p.m., and the week-long camps range in price from $175-$275.
- The Issaquah Parks & Recreation Department weekly themed camps were a big hit with my son last summer, and there are a variety to choose from for varied interests, from aquatics and art to Lego engineering, for ages 3 to 11. Best of all, they don't break the bank.
- Small Hands on Art is a non-profit organization run by Howard and Amy McOmber, of Sammamish, that provides musical theater training to many students each year. My son took one of their weeklong programs in kindergarten, and it was super fun, and the kids love Howie's campy fun style. Everyone signed up gets a part, and it's a lot of fun as the kids go through the process of preparing for recital for parents on the last day of class. This summer's camps will be offered at Blackwell Elementary in Sammamish and Cougar Ridge Elementary in Bellevue. They are for kids in grades K-6, and the cost is $75. Β
So, there are a few of my picks. Please add yours in the comments below, whether your organization is offering the camps, or your kids just plain love them.
