Sammamish Police Flag Uptick In Car Prowls, Burglaries
The police department shared a few tips Thursday after noting an increase in vehicle prowls and car burglaries in recent days.
SAMMAMISH, WA β The Sammamish Police Department is asked neighbors to be especially vigilant amid a recent rise in car prowls and burglaries reported over the past few days. While several cases remain under investigation, the police department circulated a few reminders on social media to make homes and vehicles a less appealing target for thieves.
Here's their list of recommendations:
- Make your home look occupied by leaving a light on.
- Keep your garage door closed and locked.
- Consider installing a security camera and alarm system.
- Don't allow daily deliveries of mail or newspapers to build up while you are away β arrange with the Post Office to hold your mail, or arrange for a friend or neighbor to take them regularly.
- Don't share your vacation plans on social media.
- Donβt leave valuables in your vehicles.
- Make sure to lock your vehicle.
