Applications now being accepted for the Sammamish Symphony's annual Youth Concerto Competition.

Applications are now being accepted for the Sammamish Symphony Orchestraβs Youth Concerto Competition to be held Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Redmond, WA. The symphonyβs annual Youth Concerto Competition recognizes and encourages outstanding young musicians, from Western Washington and beyond, by offering them the opportunity to showcase their talents and participate in a competitive musical process. The Sammamish Symphony, led by music director and conductor Adam Stern, has a long history of promoting involvement in the arts for young musicians, and this year marks the 15th anniversary of the competition.
Previous winners and finalists include pianist Sandy Huang, who will perform Beethovenβs Piano Concerto No. 5, "Emperor" with the orchestra in April, clarinetist Bram Schenck, who performed Spohrβs Clarinet Concerto No. 2 with the orchestra last summer, and soprano Anjulie Djearam, who performed songs and arias with the orchestra last spring.
The Youth Concerto Competition is open to musicians ages 19 years and younger who play the following orchestral instruments: woodwinds, brass, strings, harp, piano, classical guitar and voice. Cash prizes are awarded for first-, second- and third-place finishers. The first-place award also includes a solo performance with the orchestra. Entry requirements and application details are available online at SammamishSymphony.org. Deadline for applications is March 8, 2020.
